Pioneering the Future of Global E-Commerce Logistics

At Amazon, our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company, and our fulfillment centers are the massive, beating heart of our global supply chain that makes this mission a reality. Every single day, millions of customers rely on Amazon to deliver their essential household goods, life-saving medical supplies, and joyful gifts with unprecedented speed and reliability. When you step into a role within our fulfillment operations, you are not just taking a warehouse job; you are joining a technological powerhouse that utilizes cutting-edge robotics, advanced machine learning, and unparalleled logistical infrastructure. We are actively seeking dedicated, detail-oriented individuals who possess a strong Bias for Action and a deep sense of Ownership to join our outbound operations team. In this environment, you will be empowered to innovate, surrounded by a culture that prioritizes your safety, well-being, and long-term career growth. From day one, you will be an integral part of the Amazon family, driving the magic of the supply chain forward.

About the Role: The Engine of Customer Fulfillment

As an Amazon Fulfillment Center Order Picker, you are the critical link between a customer clicking "Buy Now" on their screen and the physical product arriving at their doorstep. You are the engine that drives the speed of global e-commerce. Stationed within our massive, multi-level fulfillment network, your primary objective is to fulfill customer orders with absolute precision and blazing efficiency. You will be guided by incredibly advanced algorithmic routing software displayed on your handheld scanner, which maps out the most efficient walking path through the facility or directs Amazon Robotics pods directly to your picking station. This role is built for highly active, goal-oriented individuals who enjoy achieving measurable targets and find satisfaction in the physical rhythm of finding, scanning, and dispatching products. It is a role that perfectly embodies the Amazon Leadership Principle of "Customer Obsession."

A Day in the Life of an Amazon Order Picker

Your shift kicks off with a high-energy Start of Shift (SOS) stand-up meeting. Your operations leaders will review the total facility backlog, celebrate individual performance milestones from the previous day, and outline the critical safety focus for the shift. After participating in our mandatory WorkingWell physical stretching routines, you will log into your wearable RF scanner and grab an empty cart or stack of yellow fulfillment totes. If you are in a traditional facility, you will walk miles per shift, navigating the aisles precisely as your scanner directs you to the exact bin location of the next item. If you are in an Amazon Robotics facility, you will stand at a high-tech picking station where automated pods bring the shelves directly to you. A laser indicator will illuminate the exact bin containing the customer's item. You will quickly select the item, scan the barcode to verify 100% accuracy, place it into your tote, and immediately transition to the next item. The work is continuous, heavily data-driven, and highly satisfying for those who love to stay in constant motion.

Comprehensive and Detailed Responsibilities

  • Precision Order Fulfillment: Follow the highly optimized digital routing algorithms displayed on your scanner to locate specific inventory bins across the massive facility. You must visually and digitally verify barcodes to ensure the absolutely correct item, color, and size is picked for every single customer order.
  • Tote & Cart Management: Organize and layer picked items safely into designated yellow fulfillment totes or push-carts. You must utilize critical thinking to ensure fragile items are protected and heavy items are placed securely at the bottom to prevent any damage during internal transit.
  • Operational Pace & Performance: Maintain a consistent, highly focused operational pace to meet strict facility-wide "Takt time" and units-per-hour (UPH) metrics. Your steady performance ensures that the outbound packing teams always have a continuous flow of inventory to pack and ship.
  • Safety & Housekeeping Vigilance: Actively participate in maintaining a world-class, obstacle-free environment. You must continuously scan your work area for hazards, immediately reporting any chemical spills, damaged racking infrastructure, or equipment malfunctions to floor leadership or the safety committee.
  • Amnesty & Defect Reporting: If an item falls out of a bin or a product is discovered physically damaged, you will utilize the "Amnesty" protocols on your scanner to alert the ICQA (Inventory Control) team, ensuring flawed products never reach the customer.
